Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
We recognize the value in a workforce rich with diversity, and we strive to create a welcoming culture that equally values the unique backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities of our employees.
A Fair and Welcoming Culture
Our goal is to build a culture where diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values throughout the workplace environment. This extends beyond our internal practices to our suppliers. From hiring practices and listening sessions with current employees, to employee conduct training and ensuring cultural competency of management – all of it culminates in our values-driven culture.
In addition to our emphasis on creating a workplace where every employee feels a sense of respect and belonging, we are deliberate in our efforts to work with local and diverse suppliers across our operations, including participation in organizations to listen, learn, and enhance our diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
Our inclusive, collaborative, and values-driven culture allows us to attract, retain, and develop a best-in-class workforce.
People Matter Most
We put people first with our commitment to build a company-wide culture where diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values in the everyday business practices throughout our family of companies. We envision a workplace that is diverse and welcoming to all individuals that is supported by a framework demonstrating our commitment to these values through actions.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
To build a company-wide culture where diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values in the everyday business practices throughout the workplace environment.
We envision a workplace that is diverse and welcoming to all individuals that is supported with a framework that demonstrates our commitment to these values through words and actions.
Our efforts are founded on engaging employees, listening, and learning. Through one-on-one listening sessions with individuals representing the diversity of our workforce and an all-employee culture survey, the perceptions we gather guide the ongoing conversations and training necessary to help break down biases and ensure that every employee feels a genuine sense of belonging. To champion these actions, a DEI Council was established to prioritize our focus of DEI activities and put an organizational structure in place.
We are committed to a workplace that is welcoming, inclusive, and representative of the communities we serve.
We will engage our workforce to listen, foster open dialogue, and confront challenging conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion.
We will provide the resources for training and education that creates a model for how we have those conversations.
We will share best practices and create opportunities for our employees to express their thoughts as to how we can be better.
We will openly share our plans on DEI with our employees and Board members.
Employee Resource Groups
Giving employees support structures and opportunities to connect is essential. We do this in part through our DEI Council and Employee Resource Groups, which help support employees’ personal and professional goals, while advancing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive company culture. These employee-led groups are comprised of volunteers and open to all Centuri companies.
ONE Connect
Centuri’s enterprise mobile app and web-based platform allows all employees to connect with company news, information, and each other, while giving leaders an opportunity to listen and engage in a modern and welcoming format. Together as One Team, our 11,500 employees are better equipped to work together fulfilling our mission to serve as a long-term strategic partner with regulated utilities to build and maintain the energy network that powers millions of homes and businesses across the U.S. and Canada.
Prioritizing Mental Health
With mental health issues disproportionately impacting the construction industry, mental health is a priority in our overall care for employee safety and wellbeing. With efforts led by our Mental Health employee resource group, we have been making strides in raising mental health awareness, providing resources, and breaking down the stigma attached to mental illness and asking for help. In addition to integrating mental health messaging into our safety communications, we provide robust employee assistance programs with access to counselors that are free to employees and their families.
Inspiring Futures: The Centuri Scholarship Program
As part of our commitment to provide opportunities for employees and their families, Centuri established a college scholarship program in 2020 to benefit dependent children of Centuri employees. Scholarship recipients represent the diversity of our workforce, with no fewer than 50% of scholarships awarded to applicants from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds.
Employees Supporting Each Other – Centuri’s Employee Care Fund
Centuri’s Employee Care Fund helps employees who are suffering financial hardship due to unpredictable circumstances that impact their ability to afford basic living expenses. The Fund is supported by employee donations and administered by a third-party 501(c)(3) charitable organization who evaluates applications for assistance and pays out directly to service providers on behalf of eligible employees. Approved assistance is granted as a gift that does not have to be repaid.

To continue promoting diversity in the communities around us, we participate in a variety of events and partnerships to further diversify within our own company and our supplier network.
